Wu Qin Xi (Five Animal Frolics)

Designed by a leading physician in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 AD), the Five Animals is a group of physical and breathing exercises for healthcare which imitates the movement of animals and birds. It follows the ancient theories of the internal organs functions and meridians, as well as the principles of the circulation of Qi and blood in the human body. Inspired by the observation that wild creatures regularly perform movements which build up their constitution and life skills, the movements are elegant and simple. The form has been shown to improve mental and physical health, with improvements in overall constitution, mental attitude and perception.
