Next term, we’re pleased to begin teaching Sun 30, a tai chi form consisting of 30 flowing movements from the Sun style tradition.
Sun style tai chi is known for its upright posture, smooth transitions, and gentle yet deeply effective movements. The Sun 30 form builds on these qualities to develop balance, coordination, relaxation, and mindful awareness, while supporting joint health and overall mobility.
This session is suitable for members who have already learned the basic 12 movements. These movements provide the essential foundation of Sun style tai chi, introducing correct posture, weight shifting, stepping, and the coordination of movement with breath and intention. Many of the ideas and techniques found in Sun 30 grow directly out of this basic set, making it an important stepping stone before learning the longer form.
By having this foundation in place, we can focus in class on refining movements, understanding transitions, and gradually linking the form into a smooth, continuous sequence—creating a more confident, safe, and rewarding learning experience.
We’re really looking forward to guiding you through this beautiful next step in your tai chi practice.
